training -- practice alone at the gym (or study / hold at lore floors) Sweat and chalk dust under a buzzing fluorescent tube, or an oil lamp guttering over a warded circle at 3am -- growth never comes from wanting it. It comes from reps, one honest rep at a time, until your body (or your will) finally gives an inch. How you play 1. Go to the Town Gym (or a library / ritual floor for study and hold). 2. Type train <activity> once -- see the table below. 3. Reps land on their own every few seconds; you don't spam the command. 4. train stop when you're done, or let it run until you're spent. 5. train goal POW 150 (optional) -- montage and Echo training prefer stats below your goal and skip drills once you reach it. score shows progress. That's the whole loop. Each rep raises exhaustion (effort) and may raise a stat; the same drill gets less reliable the longer you repeat it, so rotate activities once it slows down (or let an Echo regimen do that for you -- help regimen). When a stat hits this Tier's training ceiling (softcap), keep going -- extra success banks Growth toward a Break (help breaking | help jargon). Activities pushups Power situps Vitality shadowbox Finesse meditate Focus (ignores Pressure) study Focus (library / ritual / consecrated floor) brace Resonance (Pressure-scaled; bare brace is Soldier stance) hold Resonance (library / ritual / consecrated floor) project Presence (ignores Pressure, like meditate) Ritualists (Occultist / Witch / Prophet / Hunter): study and hold work best at a library, ritual, or consecrated floor -- Men of Letters stacks and the Ritual Chamber are the intended Occultist dojo. Successful Magi / Hellcraft rites (ward, saltline, circle, bind, bloodward, exile) can also drip FOC/RES on their own. Different kind of character? Cosmic Elemental you don't use the gym -- you attune on your home Aspect plane instead (help attune). God Mantle flock belief also tempers you quietly (Flock Temper) -- anywhere, strongest at chapel/seat; worshippers get a small church-ground bless (help god | help congregation). Vampire you don't use the gym either -- living feeds and nest-lair bite forge you from prey Path stats (help vampire). Trickster mischiefdrill at your shrine plus pranks on prey in the room -- not Town Gym pushups (help trickster | help mischiefdrill). Good to know Moving, fighting, working, or resting ends the session. Capped a stat at your Tier? Further success banks Growth toward your next Tier instead (help breaking), and your other stats take over the rotation. Lethal NPC fights and spars pay a primary drip each round while you swing -- FOC/PRE schools train that primary; weapon and unarmed swings train POW/FIN/VIT; dodging trains FIN and soaking a hit trains VIT (help combat, help foc). While primaries are still climbing they also bank a thin Growth drip so Potential is not stuck at zero until softcap. Spent? rest or sleep first -- exhaustion shrinks score stamina (remaining effort) until you recover (help exhaustion, help rest). Spirits cannot train. Offline, your Echo keeps training on autopilot at its home gym (Town Gym on Earth; Angels: Alcove of Hymns; Demons: Ash Drill) -- Occultist / Witch / Prophet / Hunter Echoes prefer study and hold when a library / ritual floor is in zone. regimen <activity> overrides the default for a specific build. At Primordial (Tier 4), after softcap + Growth at the wall, apex growth opens -- a second uncapped pool with very slow peer-scaled gains (help breaking). Home-plane soaks climb on a slower game tick (heartbeat) than gym montage -- they do not skip the ladder. Flock Temper and Reaper duty stay gym-paced. Those floors bank Growth only after every drill is at the Tier ceiling (help breaking).
