The fuel gauge warns once at about a quarter tank and again near empty before you stall. Highway driving can throw roadside trouble: odd traffic, shoulders worth pulling off for, or a county checkpoint. Keep driving and most of it passes harmlessly; park if you want to deal with it. Checkpoints make you stop -- talk to the deputy or flee to gun it through (risky). Blacktop unction is a workshop mix of angel grace, leviathan goo, and wendigo blood (extract grace / extract goo / extract wendigo, then craft unction). Pour it like gas -- gas additive -- on a car you own. The slick lasts four hours: the tank does not drink, cruise still jumps one atlas tile every thirty seconds, and typed n/s/e/w steers as fast as you can type. Inject the same flask -- inject unction -- for four hours of tireless hiking: you can walk twenty-five atlas tiles out (mortals usually only two), still stepping the usual 10-by-10 wilderness, as fast as you type directions.
