overland -- dual-layer America atlas (vehicles + foot wilderness)

How you play
  1. The big map is the atlas: 96 by 60 tiles (camera around you; Mudlet can paint the full silhouette). drive 44 32 or walk 20 5 -- two numbers with a space, no parentheses. Screenreader players use the same syntax.
  2. Drive (help vehicles) tile by tile. leave the car -- you stand at foot-grid 5 5 of that atlas tile, a 10-by-10 wilderness.
  3. On foot, n/s/e/w moves the small grid. Ten steps east crosses into the next atlas tile. walk 44 33 hikes toward that atlas cell if you can; mortals hear a warning when it is farther than about two tiles. Monsters hike farther. The 10-by-10 is never typed as coordinates -- only the atlas is.
  4. On a city / bunker landmark tile, walk to the gate at 5 5 -- look shows an Enter hint -- then enter <name> (e.g. enter lebanon, enter bunker).
  5. exit from town returns you to foot-grid 5 5 of that landmark tile.
  6. atlas / map big -- atlas view centered on your overland coordinates. Movement is drive and walk; atlas shows the map.

The atlas rim is a hard edge (no wrap). Ocean and lakes block driving.
The whole atlas is outdoors (sun, moon, weather) even while you drive -- wilderness encounters only start after you leave the car onto the foot grid. Foot rooms are temporary -- they are never saved as map rooms.
