map -- local ASCII map (overland + dungeons) and full atlas

Look stays short by default: title, prose, Exits: with one
North - Dest line each, then people and items as plain sentences.

How you play
  1. Stand on overland or in a dungeon (not inside a town room)
  2. look -- short classic room text (no map by default)
look items / look souls -- only floor loot or people here
  3. map -- local window on demand (not in towns)
3b. map zone | zone -- plain nearby zone bearings (screenreader-friendly)
3c. config mapzone on -- also print those bearings under ASCII map / map big
  4. map big -- camera window of the overland atlas that fits your
screen (also: bigmap / map full / map atlas). Never wraps a map row.
Works indoors too -- marks your zone on the America grid.
     US atlas terrain (~ . ^ o); yellow roads (= | / \\ +); city letters (S L D X C N M *).
Mudlet side window: Package Manager, install MortalsAndMonsters, then atlas.
mmgui or rfmap redraws that window and still prints this camera.
Screenreader mode keeps spoken coords, not glyphs — the dock stays hidden.
See help mudlet and help atlas for the America map; drive to travel.
  5. Glyphs (overland): C=city P=plains O=ocean M=mountains L=lake F=forest …

Type map for the local ASCII window (@ = you). Overland cells use the terrain window; dungeons use Studio layout coords when present, otherwise a linked-exit neighborhood. Town interiors (city rooms) stay text-only -- no ASCII map on look, mapmove, or bare map. Use map big or atlas for the country map; drive to travel. Plane tint is labeled in text, not color alone.

Overland cells link in eight directions (n/e/s/w and ne/nw/se/sw) so walking matches the compass bearings on landmark tips. Wrap grids
(America) loop at the edges; telnet shows a camera window, not a wrapping dump.

On look (grid cells), named landmarks show by compass bearing when you are within range -- nearby, in the distance, or on the horizon. Staff with gm on see farther; players stay local.
Standing on a gateway does not repeat that landmark; use enter there.

config map on (default) allows the bare map command outside towns. To embed the map in every look (overland/dungeon only), use config maplook on. For a map after each move, use config mapmove on. Neither draws ASCII inside city rooms. While driving or cruising the overland atlas, config drivemap atlas (default) redraws the atlas camera each step; config drivemap minimap keeps the smaller local window. config map off turns
ASCII maps off entirely.

Want bare map itself to open on the atlas camera instead of the local window? config mapview atlas makes it the default (type map small for the local window on demand); config mapview minimap (default) keeps bare map local, with map big still available for the atlas camera.

config mapzone on appends nearby zone bearings under ASCII minimap and map big on overland (default off). map zone still prints bearings alone without the glyph window.

Screenreader mode replaces the ASCII window with directional exit text plus nearby zone bearings when you stand on overland; map zone (or zone) prints only that bearing block. map big adds grid size and your coordinates (no glyph dump).
Mudlet side window: Package Manager, install MortalsAndMonsters, then type atlas (mmgui or rfmap redraws the dock). The telnet camera is still atlas. Screenreader mode hides the dock. See help mudlet.
For named destinations without reading the grid, see help walk.
