Pocket cash is on your person (wallet or loose bills); banked savings stay at the Town Bank until you withdraw. Strongboxes and dungeon hauls may also pay gold coins, bits, or jewelry -- cash those in at the bank with cashin. Check balances with wallet (also Cash on score -- wallet plus any loose bills in inventory). wallet log lists recent spends and deposits. Wallet also shows rent due when you are a tenant. How you earn and spend 1. work clock in at a job site for hourly pay. Necessity desks (grocery, gas, diner, hotel, clinic) pay vacancy overtime up toward time-and-a-half while unstaffed. Stay on one desk long enough and career grades raise your rate (Junior / Regular / Senior -- help work). 2. shop / buy / sell counters and vendors -- buy <n> <item>, sell <n>|<all> <item>, or sell all backpack 3. missions / haunts / cases / contracts -- clearer danger pays more than a quiet desk hour 4. claim / buyhome town housing: claim = monthly rent; buyhome = deed (no rent) 5. rent hotel night (premium vs monthly rent) Broke Echoes also work (or rob food when critically starving). Cash is per-character and saves with you. Bank it with deposit at the Town Bank. Some shop clerks are new arrivals who rent a house and work a posted shift -- if one is killed for good, the desk goes vacant until someone else moves in to fill it (vacancy overtime still applies while the counter is empty).
