daylight -- Vampire sun exposure (SPN)
Supernatural canon: direct sunlight does not kill vampires and does not ash them. UV hits like a really bad sunburn -- raw pain, sensitive eyes. That biology is why most vampires stay nocturnal; Cadence AI prefers shade by day. It is not a curse that forbids you from walking outside.
Outdoors at dawn, day, or dusk (streets, parks, wastes): discomfort and slower passive knit/rest drip. Midday open sky is worst; dawn and dusk sting less. No HP drain, no spirit drop, no clinic trip from sun alone. Bite heals from a landed feed still work.
Night is comfortable outside. Indoors, sewers, vampire nests (Bone Nest, Drip Nest), Underflow Flats, and the mausoleum are safe any time.
Cadence Vampires (and Angel without the Ring) prefer not to hunt or prowl in daylight -- preference, not physics blocking you. Offline Echoes default to seeking shade; set echo sun risk if you want them to linger outside.
The Ring of Amara (catalog finger ring) lets a Vampire walk daylight without that pain when carried or worn. It is not on ordinary loot tables yet -- staff can spawn it; the same check opens daytime errands and hunts.
A world eclipse (help balance) blots the sun -- daytime discomfort lifts until it ends. Offline Echoes never feel sun harm. Players are not force-moved -- linger outside and the burn (and slower knit) stay until shade or night.
