fishing -- cast, fillet, bait, and smoke your catch
Fishing is a Survival profession (help professions). You do not need a homestead or a day job -- fish from lakes, rivers, piers, and homestead ponds.
How you play
1. Stand at fishable water (lake shore, river, pier, or homestead pond) From Lebanon town square, walk lake or walk dock to hike east to the shore.
2. fish always yields something -- fish or junk, never empty
Catch has weight (lighter than ore). inventory shows stacks and weight.
When you are too burdened, drop, fillet, cook, or stash before the next cast.
3. fish status season, week, sky, bait on you, and rank
4. fish worms grocery bait -- better bite (buy worms at the grocer)
5. fish tie turn tangled line junk into a fly
6. fish fly use the fly -- even better bite
7. fillet turn whole fish into fillets
8. cook pan-fried fish at a lit hearth (or cook salt-crusted fish with salt)
9. smoke <fish|meat> at a smoke rack (homestead yard build)
Season, week, time of day, and the sky (rain, storm, fog, snow) change junk versus prize odds. Fog or the small hours can swap a spooky table.
Sell fillets and smoked goods at the grocer, diner, pawn, or your yard shop
(lifestylestock). Offshore deep water waits on boats and trailers (not live yet).
Lebanon lake (east of town)
Walk the lake road to the shore, then east onto the dock to fish (fish_pier).
swim <dir> moves you through open water; dive / surface for the underwater layer.
In winter, break ice before you swim or dive; if the surface refreezes while you are underneath, you are forced up -- GET OUT.
launch boat at the shore ramp when you have a trailer rig (vehicles wave -- stub for now).
What it does
