Prefer cover <name> in combat so you never accidentally pour a ward. How you play (fight) 1. protect <name> watch over someone in the room 2. cover <name> always ally cover (never chalks a ward) 3. protect off stop covering How you play (wards) 1. protect bare, or protect here -- chalk missing salt/iron/trap marks and add this room to your ward list 2. unprotect / wardlist manage that list Each successful intercept spends Momentum. Defensive stance or a queued guard makes it reliable; otherwise Finesse and Resonance grit decide. You still swing at your own focus each tick.
