blood groceries -- Vampire home blood pantry How you play 1. blood groceries 2. Follow See also for the hub that owns this loop Buy 'a bag of blood groceries' at the Rat's Nest (same discount math as mortal groceries -- about 20% under buying single bags for two game-days). At your claimed house, rented hotel room, or a friend / family / lover's kitchen, 'stock' or 'put blood groceries in fridge' fills a separate blood pantry for about 48 game-hours at a house, or about 24 game-hours in a hotel mini-fridge. Food groceries and blood groceries share the fridge but keep separate timers (so a shared home can hold both). While the blood pantry is stocked (own home or leased hotel room): look in fridge -- hours left on food and/or blood drink / drink from fridge -- free fridge sip (same fuel as one bag) stock / stock blood -- restock (resets the window) How Cadence uses it Lovers always try to bring blood groceries to a Vampire whose pantry is empty (Buffy restocks Angel). Friends / family / best friends do the same when they are otherwise idle. The donor does not need to be a Vampire -- they buy at the Rat's Nest and stock the Vampire's kitchen fridge. If nobody is bringing blood, a hungry Vampire with a home goes and buys a bag themselves. Good Vampires prefer that pantry path over hunting; trait hooks can later choose "wait for a lover" vs "go myself". Paid Nest runs (no friendship required): a Procurer, someone with the opportunist trait, or a scavenger (Pike) will front a bag at the Nest for any Vampire whose pantry is empty and who can pay list price plus about 20% on delivery. Useful when a good or weak Vampire has dollars but cannot get a clean kill. Nest bartenders stay behind the bar. The Nest sits in the sewers (evil ground). Ordinary townsfolk will not walk down there. Combat-capable people with a bold streak (brave, fearless, or reckless) will make the bar run for a Vampire they care about -- they pick up the bag and climb out; they do not go looking for a fight until they are back on normal streets.
